This event focused on disease management and treatment in people with MS during the COVID-19 pandemic, with a focus on the following topics:

  • Virology
  • Epidemiology
  • Immune response and suppression
  • Disease-modifying therapies
  • MS services during the COVID-19 pandemic

The programme included short talks from experts around the globe followed by a panel discussion and Q&A session.

triMSx events are free educational initiatives linked to the triMS.online conferences. Led by the triMS.online Scientific Steering Committee, these events are webcasts of short presentations highlighting the latest research and clinical insights on a chosen topic.

For this triMSx event, the Committee chose the important topic of how to manage multiple sclerosis during the current COVID-19 pandemic. People with multiple sclerosis are facing increased risks and challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, and they have many questions to which there are no easy answers:

  • ‘How will my immune system cope with COVID-19 infection?’
  • ‘What is my risk for severe infection or complications?’
  • ‘Should I stop my DMT … or delay treatment … or switch treatment?’
  • ‘Who will monitor my MS if my usual appointments are cancelled?’
